MIRROR...MIRROR
in room 5
SPIEGLEIN SPIEGLEIN (IN DER HAND)
BIRGIT MÖRTL
Do you see yourself in the mirror ... do you recognise
yourself?
Do you also see the one you actually should be?
You indeed see your face, your gestures, your wrinkles … life
has left it marks…but the mirror tells you the truth
… it doesn’t lie … it shows you again and again who you
really are … who you actually should be .…
But can you disengage from your path? … from your
impressions, your experience, from the many influences …?
If you fail to follow your true self … your fate … your calling…
the mirror will show you that again and again …
You feel like a puppet on a string in the theater of life ...
But YOU don’t hold the strings ...
The eternal discrepancy challenges you … it allows no peace
of mind…you are restlessly searching for meaning
… for perspectives …
The mirror reminds you … challenges you …
“Take your fate in your own hands … decide yourself … listen
to your inner voice!”
Nothing can happen to you ... don’t give up …
Dissolve yourself from preprogrammed patterns … the path
is the right one ... Follow your heart … and the mirror will tell
you the truth ...

MAGIC MIRROR
HEDWIG ROTTER
The idea is based on the principle of deception, a way to let illusion emerge. Observing one’s face in the palm of a hand creates a feeling of security and allows a virtual moment to evolve.
GESICHTSVERRÄUMLICHUNG
BORIS PODRECCA
This artefact made out of moveable mirror surfaces makes possible a variety of facial variations from angles abovebelow / right-left / in front of-behind. A game of vanities: self-mirrored in infinite variations. (Mirror: lat. speculum, lat. spectaculum).
MIRROR MIRROR
LHOTKA CONSTANTIN
The mirror has been in households as a tool of selfobservation for over 5000 years. But, how do we look at ourselves, and to what extent does our self-portrayal concern our surroundings? Exactly that is what the work “None of your business!” grapples with. It asks the question, how much is self-portrayal done for oneself, or does one present themselves rather for others.
STARS IN LOVE
AKO
This mirror was designed with a motto from arts and crafts. Miró with his configuration pictures was the source of inspiration. While observing the mirror, one easily gets the feeling of being a part of a heavenly position.

HONEY AND BUNNY
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who sh…the fairest of them all? The intestinal mirror knows you. It knows what you ate.Show us your guts and we’ll tell you who you are, as your excrement turns your innards completely outward! To us! It talks to us! So what do we have here? Industrial design or maybe a bit of organics? Preservatives or gut flora? Heavy metals or fertilisers? Doesn’t matter, it’s all sh….

INTROSPEKTIV
BENJAMIN HÖSEL
Here it is not the façade that we show others that is mirrored, but rather the reticent cosmos of our thoughts, dreams and truths. In this deep reflection, we are confronted with the complexity of our innermost being, with the facets of light and darkness that we are comprised of. But don’t be afraid of the shadows, because they are the contours that form us and emboss our journey. A wall of silence arises to ban the outer shell and to uncover the way into the labyrinth of thoughts. No recurrence of stereotypes or fleeting ideals of beauty, but rather a silent echo of our own being awaits the observer. Open your hearts and hear the whispers of your own souls. In this wall of mirrors of thoughts lies freedom, truth and the compelling power that makes us alive.

DER SPIEGEL
THOMAS PUCHER
The mirror expands the mirroring of only images to spiritual mirrors. While the mirror shows us how we look, the neon writing assures us that we look good, even perfect. It asks us simultaneously whether we (can) also see ourselves that way. Only from unconditional self-love is it possible to love others. Only through the love of others is it possible to achieve community.

SELBSTVERLIEBT
WALTER HÖSEL
The installation “Selbstverliebt” sweeps you away into a world of multifaceted reflections. In this room full of mirrors, you are confronted with numerous pictures of your self. But behind this apparently nacissistic game a deeper message is hidden - the difficulty to really see yourself. In our hectic world we rarely take enough time to see ourselves in the mirror and to reflect on that reflection. This installation encourages you to pause for a moment, to forage through the many facets of your own identity, to explore the meaning of the sense of self.
