End of the Habsburg monarchy | Conflicts over future borders
With the end of World War I, the multi-ethnic state that was the Habsburg monarchy came to an end. Several nation states were formed, demanding new borders, and one of them was the young state of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. For Carinthia and Austria, this represented a new crisis – a new challenge right after the countless casualties of the Great War.
